As part of keeping up to date with various pieces of software I’m looking at various WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) Website Editors. See http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/05/06/25-wysiwyg-editors-reviewed/. The problem with WYSIWYG is that it was bad when compared to hand-coding (ie writing it yourself), but things have progressed a lot since the last time I investigated this.
The trade off with using such HTML/XML editors to create web-pages is that Hand-coding is more efficient with a proficient coder (ie programmer) in terms of size (ie bytes), but takes more time. WYSIWYG and other code creation tools are quick, but tend to create code that it less efficient.
In IT you need to be aware of the effect a software tool will have on the possible solutions that you could create.
